I'm not talking about the hair on your head because it just grows and grows. But body hair. Say you cut off 1/4 of an inch of leg hair, or armpit hair. That hair will grow back to the exact same length that it used to be. But if the hair is dead, and it must be because it doesn't hurt when you cut it, how does it know that it got cut? How does it know to grow back exactly 1/4 f an inch? I know the root is alive, but you didn't touch the root! This is perhaps one of life's greatest mysteries and I doubt anyone can answer it.
