If u don't want to cut any length off than u can thin your hair to get some lift, but u don't want to do too much or you will regret it. Try getting a razor cut with soft layers, you would really like the effect and it not losing too much length. The other option is to cut layers around your face and leaving the length longer.

yeah, just tell your hair stylist you want layers and that you want your hair to be the same length. i suggest you tell them this many times, because when i got my hair cut into layers, they chopped off a bunch -___-

yes. You can get long layers that are only an inch or two from your usual lenght. However, you might want to consider not getting them at all since much of the point of layers is to have them shorter than the hair by a noticable amount. Layers are best for people with shoulder lengthed hair, since they have to be styled and straightened seperately otherwise the ends flip up and the just look messy. You could get choppy layers, which can be long as well and add more definition to your look. Talk to your hair dresser to see what she can do to personalize the layers to look good with your long hair.

It's easy to get condused about "layering" the hair; the word is often musused. Layering just means making the hair variable lengths throughout an established form. The confusion comes from misinterpreting the various ways layering can be used to enhance a style. Most people associate the word layering with shortening the hair to different lengths throughtout the entire head. This is not it's true function. Used to enhance long hair, perimeter layers, which you would be looking for, are created by cutting the hair at a slight elevation while keeping your established hanging length, which would allow you to keep your overall length. Slight perimeter layering will promote softness, remove excess weight, and allow the ends to move more freely! I say go for it. But if you want to maintain your length, tell her so, and explain you'd like nothing more than about a 45 degree elevation. She should know exactly what you mean. Otherwise I would run out of there ASAP! Good luck with layering your long beautiful hair!

yeah. when you cut layers you pull the bottom layer up to the shortest top layer that you want and cut across if that makes sense
